Area seniors are invited to the opening on Friday, November 8 from 10am - Noon of a new program in Chatham called CAPERS, which stands for Chatham Area People Enjoying Recreation and Socialization. It will take place at the Morris Memorial on Park Row and will feature Pickleball along with other games such as pool and pingpong. A donation of $2 per person/session will go to support the Morris Memorial. CAPERS will be open on Mondays and Fridays from 10am -Noon, except during inclement weather or holidays. These hours may be extended in the future.
There will be people on hand to offer beginning instruction for people who want to learn how to play Pickleball. Equipment will be provided, though you are welcome to bring your own paddles and/or balls. In addition, participants are encouraged to make suggestions for other activities that might be offered such as knitting instruction, discussion groups, or art projects. As the cold weather approaches, it is hoped that CAPERS will be a welcome addition to the offerings in our community for bringing seniors together for conversation, stimulation and fun.
