Part-time Managing Director
Neighbors of Northern Columbia County (NNCC) is a grassroots, non-profit membership organization whose mission is to enable older community members to remain in their homes as they age. We serve the rural communities located in the northern townships in Columbia County, NY. Through volunteers, NNCC provides support services such as transportation, minor household repairs and tech help. Social and educational opportunities are provided to reduce social isolation and to further the education, health and safety of older community members.
The Managing Director will assist NNCC in developing sustainable funding and securing strategic partnerships. This position will actively participate in fundraising and grant writing including developing NNCC’s application for the NYS Neighborhood Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities (NNORC) grant program. The Managing Director will also ensure the effective continuation of services and activities as NNCC moves from a start up to a sustainable community organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and maintain strategic plans to guide the organization.
Assure delivery of member services and an accurate database.
Recruit and manage volunteers, ensure service requests are fulfilled and oversee the vetting process.
Participate in NNCC’s fundraising and marketing activities.
Identify new funding sources and strategies for donor solicitation.
Participate in grant writing including the application to NYS for NNORC.
Identify and develop partnerships with community organizations and entities.
Understand and effectively carry out NNCC policies.
In collaboration with the Treasurer and Bookkeeper, track expenditures particularly for grants.
Reports to the NNCC President and attends all board meetings to facilitate implementation of Board directives.
Qualifications:
· Minimum BA/BS with management experience in a non-profit setting preferred.
· Experience in working with older people, health care or social services.
· Knowledge of fundraising, marketing techniques and donor and membership development.
· Skilled in overseeing organizational finances.
· Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing.
· A warm, social, outgoing personality who enjoys interactions with others.
· Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, web-based tools and the ability to adapt to new software.
Compensation: 1099 part-time contract with an all-inclusive compensation commensurate on experience.
